from the release Alex chooses his materials carefully. He utilizes simple K'nex motors to create a constantly shifting juxtaposition, highlighting the unstable, yet cyclical nature inherent in all of our stories. The bright, plastic colors disarm the senses and create an expectation of frivolity, yet the compositions tell a darker tale. Attracted to the free-play memories of a childhood surrounded by bins of these toys, he discovered direct links to the sentimentality of today's open source, rapid-prototyping movements.
